Privacy Policy
Oztally was published as Half Price Deals until 2026. This policy covers the app under both names; nothing about what is collected changed with the name.
What we collect
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information Oztally collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Oztally aggregates half-price and discounted grocery deals from major Australian retailers, and does not require you to create an account or provide any personal details to use it.
Information we collect
We do not collect your name, email address, or other directly identifying information. When you open the app, you are automatically signed in through Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which assigns your device a random, non-identifying id. That id is used only to sync your favourites, shopping lists, and notification and age-confirmation preferences to our servers so they persist across sessions. It is not linked to your real-world identity.
App usage analytics
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate, for example which screens are viewed and which features are used, so we can fix problems and improve the app. This data is tied to your anonymous device id, not to your identity.
Location (Find In Store)
Find In Store can check nearby stock for you. If you tap “Check stock near me”, we request your device's location and send those coordinates to our servers to look up which stores near you have that product. They are not stored against your identity beyond normal request logs. This is entirely optional: tap “Search by suburb instead” to get the same results without sharing your location.
Camera (barcode scanning)
The barcode scanner uses your camera to read a product's barcode and look up its price. The camera image itself is processed on your device and is never stored or sent anywhere. Only the decoded barcode number is used to look up the product.
Advertising, notifications and purchases
Advertising
Oztally is free to use and is supported by advertising served through Google AdMob and its mediation partners, including Meta Audience Network. These advertising networks may collect and use device identifiers (such as your advertising id) and general usage data to select, serve, and measure ads, which may include personalised ads based on your interests, in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers beyond what these standard advertising networks collect directly. You can review or reset your device advertising identifier and ad personalisation preferences in your device's system settings. Oztally Pro removes advertising from the app.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send you price-drop alerts, for example weekly deal summaries, price drops on your favourited products, or reminders about your shopping lists. You can turn any of these on or off at any time from Notification Preferences in the app, and disabling them stops future messages from being sent to your device.
Oztally Pro purchases
If you subscribe to Oztally Pro, the purchase is made through Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and keep your subscription status in sync; RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user id and the purchase receipt issued by the store, and handles it under its own privacy policy. Restore Purchases asks the store for your existing purchase and links it to your current device. If you redeem a gift code, the code and your anonymous id are recorded so the code cannot be reused.
Your choices and contact
Data retention and your choices
Your favourites, shopping lists, and preferences remain stored against your anonymous device id for as long as you use the app. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your device settings, ends that association on your end. To request deletion of data associated with your device, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
Oztally is not directed at children. Because some retailers list alcohol products, the app asks you to confirm your age before showing that category. This confirmation is stored locally and is not a general account age gate.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from third-party servers. The download links go to Apple and Google, whose own policies apply once you leave.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do, and material changes will be reflected in an updated app release.
